essay #3

Out of all of the distracted driving among people cell phone use is the most dangerous. While some people might argue that cell phone use could help driving the facts and statistics say otherwise. People are more worried about their phone than their own life and the people in the car. Not only had they put themselves at risk but also other drivers around them! In my experience on the road I see first-hand what distracted driving can do, its many lives and still counting. The more we get this out there the more lives we can save.
Any distractive driving such as: Texting, talking, eating, loud music and even when your emotions dictate your mood. It takes away half of your focus to your hands eyes and hearing. Texting requires one hand and eye focus, which leaves you with little concentration for the road. When you drink and drive you are 4 times more likely to get into and accident but it’s very different when your texting and driving because that number jumps to an 8 times more likely to crash. Sean Kozara compares distracted driving with Russian roulette, in a sense that yes you can look at a text or answer a phone call but at that moment you’re at high risk for a car accident! I know from personal experience that texting and driving can be very deadly. When a survey was taken 50% of teenagers admit to texting and driving. 28% of automotive crashes are because of texting and driving.
Over 410,000 people have gotten injured because of distractive driving and that number keeps rising every day. A persons reflects go down to about of an eighty year old man when we text and drive! That is no time to react to a quick situation.  And puts many lives in danger, not only injuries but also deaths. In order to stop this or decrease this multiple parties need to be informed like the police, teenagers, adults, seniors, automotive shops, and anything else to do with automobiles. It’s hard to resist a phone call or text, but it might just save your life if you ignore it.
LaHood says that hands free isn’t the problem since it’s up to your ear while driving. She also says that most people can’t afford Bluetooth in their car so the cell phone is easier to use. Well if this is the case I think that more car companies should be more informed of this rising number of accidents, than maybe we can work on the car having already a built in Bluetooth to at least minimize the number of crashes. It’s not a lot but it’s a great start. Because at least your eyes would be on the road and not your cell phone screen.
National Highway Traffic Safety Admissions (NHTSA) continues to research this topic, collect data, promote legislation, and encourage public awareness and education. The NHTSA is trying out a high visibility enforcement project in New York and Connecticut. Raising awareness. This is a great start as well but not nearly enough to get most of the United States to stop putting their lives in danger. So far only fourteen states prohibits all hand held cell phone use while forty-four states have banned texting and driving. There has been no state bands on complete no use of cell phones but the efforts are getting better to make that happen.
Drivers accessing social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Email increased from 21% to 43%! So this went to just people texting and driving or calling and driving to people actually checking social media sites! If it takes an average 5-10 seconds to read a text than another 5-10 seconds reply I couldn’t imagine the time it take for people to check social media or their emails. In 2011 about ten percent of FATAL car crashes had to do with cellular devices. And 17 percent were injured. 495 people in 2011 were killed because the other party was using a cell phone.
I know from my personal experience that distracted driving is very dangerous! And to bring and actual story into this might be more useful to some that still choose to check their phone. I was in High School when this happened Davis High was a very big school and had a lot of new drivers out on the road, When it was lunch time I went out to lunch with a couple of my friends. I was in the passenger seat and my friend driving, on the way back to the school we were driving in a residential area doing about twenty miles per hour when we stopped at a stop sign. My friend looking both ways first went to push on the gas when a truck rear ended our car. We got out of the car to asset the damage and I took the car license plate down when the other party drove off! Without getting out of the car they just left. Well when the police found the car the driver admitted that her was texting and driving and didn’t see us and didn’t have the time to stop! I and my friend had whiplash me having a bruise on my forehead as well. Without realizing what he did he decided to leave the scene thinking he wouldn’t get caught. Lucky for me and my friend we didn’t have any serious injuries or death but now I know first-hand what texting and driving can do.
The main tips you can follow for preventing a crash are very simple it can be hard the first few times but after a while it will get easy and you will be saving lives. The tips are:
1.         Devote your full attention to driving.
2.         If another activity requires your attention pull over.
3.         If you have passengers don’t be afraid to ask their help.
4.         Put all electronic distractions away.
5.         Make sure children and pets are secured.
6.         Eat before getting into the car.
7.         Finish all grooming at home, or parked/pulled over. (I know it sounds a but silly but it might just save your life and someone else’s)
8.         Make adjustments to the car before.
9.         Store any loose gear away or tie down.
10.       FULLY FOCUS ON DRIVING!!
Finish any other distractive things that you have outside the car. The more people that can follow these tips the safer our roads will be. Using a cellphone, tablet, gps, or music device while driving impairs the drivers’ awareness of their surroundings, people in the car, inside and outside situations, and ability to react, meaning that drivers have a harder time processing what could be going on around them.
In conclusion cell phones are great in the sense of an emergency but replying to a text is not an emergency and it becomes one for someone else on the road you’re putting at risk. You should be able to take care of any distractions before getting in a vehicle at all times. Distracted driving is dangerous and can be 100% preventable if you put your cellular devices away while driving.

conclusion post

Well first off this class was beyond amazing! Not only did I have the best teacher that kept my attention but also taught the material very well! With The (E) Dentity I thought it was perfect for this generation and the next's. It got me thinking and discussing more than I ever do in any other class. I loved this subject and how our homework was presented through our blogs, I thought it was creative, fun, made homework fun, I wanted to actually do it because it wasn't hard, and the book was great as well.

I definitely learned a lot and loved that I could share my opinions and thoughts on the different subjects in class it was always my favorite class to attended to. I wouldn't change anything about the class because it is such a great pace for the faster students and the slower stressed ones like myself! If I could do anything different I would have kept up with the journals. But over all this class was great ad kept my attention the whole way through! My sense of learning is more this speed and class talks than a lecture and lots of home work because than I lose my will to do it because it gets more of a chore than fun anymore, I did not have this problem with this class, I wish there were more classes like this one! And I wished my teacher would teach higher English classes! I'm going to miss this class, my peers, and my teacher! Hope everyone has an awesome two week break!
Journal
So this weekend has been chaotic. I had to watch my aunts dog down in farmington while I finished the last of my classes and homework. And on top of that my two dogs are sick that I had to go back and forth to my house and my aunts. Than its also my cousins last week out here from new york. So my mom wanted to fit in so many fun activities. My little sister had a follow up at the doctors about the shots in her head. The doctor said that she was getting some hair growth but since all of the steroids in the medicine it created a crater in her skull and it needs to completely heal before putting more shots in. So we have another follow up in two months. As for me my aunts house is always fun to watch because I use their hot tub and pool and I have it to myself. And she pays me so much money to watch a dog for two days. Well with that money I am going to take my bf to a picnic and a movie tomorrow for his birthday and give him his present. I watched the Lego movie with my family and it is probably the best movie I ever seen. I would HIGHLY suggest it to anyone! Well right now I am sitting in my bed playing catch up like no other cause I've had a lot to do this week with family and other classes and trying to register for classes that wont overwhelm me this time around. So I'm hoping I have enough to pass this english and if not I will have to re take this. Well now I have to get back into writing the third and final essay for class.
Journal
So in my writing class i have to write a short story about anything of my liking. So this is my rough draft to my short story that im writing. I't I ended it so if I have to write another short story I can continue this one.

I’m either dead, sleeping, or in a coma. All of my greatest dreams are here, my family, friends, and my boyfriend. Whatever this is I don’t want to wake up. I couldn’t remember anything else before this, all I could think of was what was happening right then and it was happy, and peaceful. I never wanted it to end. Although, every dream comes to an end and in this case, my dream ended with a bang.

I woke up to bright lights, and people all around me, the smell of blood, and medicine filled my nose. I couldn’t tell where I was, or who I was with.  Everything was spinning, I felt sick to my stomach, and my body ached, I didn’t know what was going on, and I couldn’t think straight. I was sweating bullets–I tried to speak but I couldn’t even recognize my own voice or if words even came out.
Everything went black again, and I was in the security and comfort of my dreams, it would be the last time I saw all those happy faces for a very long time. I heard the comfort of my boyfriend’s voice, whispering for me to come back, I looked around and saw no one, everything was fading, and I started to slip through the cracks into the black, dark abyss.
A wave of electricity was sent through my body and I saw the bright lights as my eyes shot open and my lungs gasped for air. People were talking. And asking questions it took me awhile to recognize everyone in the room it was really hard for me to think, I started to close my eyes gently to go back to that peaceful dream once more—another wave of electricity went through my body but this time with enough force to send my body into a whirl. I woke up and heard a familiar voice.
“Honey? Are you ok?” It was my mother Lisa, “You’re ok now Riley, relax.”
“What happened?” My voice felt foreign to me.
“ Riley, you have slight amnesia, but it’s not severe you wont be able to remember a few things that’s happened the last week or so. The doctor said you could probably get your memory back if you tried hard enough, but don’t worry about it too much about.
How did she want me not to worry? My head was pounding, my heart was racing. I couldn’t remember what happened the night before. I started to panic; all I could think about was if Ethan was ok, and if anyone else was hurt.
                “Mom, is Ethan ok?”
                “Yeah. He will be ok.”
“Where is he?” I asked a little anxious.
“In the next room, but you shouldn’t move for a while so I’ll send him in later, I promise.”
My mom left, she was going to get me some food. I closed my eyes, and tried to think about what happened. But, it was blank. I started to get angry at myself for not remembering, I needed to find they key that would bring back all my memory. It felt like a veil being put over my face and, I couldn’t see anything but the black blanket which covered me; this is what my mind felt like. I thought about drawing my attention to something else, I closed my eyes and started to listen to the things around me. A little while later someone came into my room.
“Riley?” Ethan said coming into the room, his voice gave a sense of comfort
“Ethan!” I squealed and sat upright. If anyone heard that they might have pictured a little girl getting excited over a piece of candy she got to pick up but I don’t care. I probably looked ragged and gross. My long brown hair tangled mascara ran down from underneath my brown eyes and seemed a little shorter without my heels.
“Hey babe, are you ok?”
“Peachy.”
“I’m so sorry Hun.”
“How long was I out, what happened? No one is telling me anything.” Questions flowed through my body I could feel my heart pick up some pace but I needed to find out for sure.
“Well, I don’t really know what happened, it was during the dance but I overheard the doctors saying that someone slipped you something. On the way here your heart stopped beating twice, and they had to use the defibrillator.
I didn’t know what to say. First, I thought why would someone give me a drug like that but not enough to kill me? And second, it doesn’t explain all the memory loss.
“What about the amnesia?”
“The doctors think it’s because of the impact on the back of your skull, but let’s not talk about it anymore.”
I took my hand and rubbed alongside the back of my head and felt an indent, and what felt like dry blood. I got a little dizzy again and laid down. I grabbed the silver necklace around my neck; it had a key on the end of it, my dad gave it to me when I was really little. My mom never talks about my dad, and I wonder why sometimes, but that’s the least of my concerns. I want to find out what happened to me.
After two long painful days in the hospital, I could finally go home. When I got there I ran into my room picked up my cell phone and went into the downstairs movie room to call Ethan. When I turned my phone on I had 6 missed calls and five new texts, but I didn’t care no one was that important at the moment. I punched in Ethan’s number in, it was ringing and the anticipation was killing me, finally he answered.
“Hello?” he asked.
“Hey boo!”
That was my nickname for him, its short for boobear, Ethan was my life, we’ve been together for about two years now, were both 18, he was the definition of perfect, I could sit for hours thinking about him but those thoughts were interrupted by him speaking again.
“Hey my honey bunches of oats. How are you feeling? Do you need anything?”
He was always considerate like that, I could ask him for anything and he would get it without fail but I needed something a little more than goods.
“I am now, but can you come over for a little while it’s important we need to talk.”
I heard the phone go silent for a moment and I wondered if he was ok.
“O, No.” he gasped.
“What?”
“It’s the break up talk isn’t it?”
“What? No! Just get over here I need your help again.”
“If its running to the store again to buy your feminine products again I really don’t want to do it, I love you and all but once was enough.”
“O my! No! It’s important just get over here I need to talk to you. “
“Alright, I’m on my way.”
The doorbell rang, I ran to the door and swung it open, I yelled with excitement and gave him a hug, who I thought was Ethan. It wasn’t…it was the Comcast guy delivering our new cable box. I could feel the burning sensation of embarrassment on my cheeks. I thought I could play it off so he didn’t think I was some creep so I tried…
“O, Sorry I just get excited when we get new cable boxes.”
“I’m sure I get the same way.” The Comcast guy laughed.
I led him upstairs to install the new cable box. About 5 minutes later the doorbell rang again. I first looked out the window to see who it was learning from my mistake the first time. When I looked out I saw a tall, lean, brown long hair, brown eyes, and freckles along the top of his nose and cheeks, when I saw him I knew it was Ethan. I swung the door open and threw myself into his arms. I gave him a hug and lead him downstairs, my house was fairly big and always kept clean, I lived with my mom and sister. Ethan and I sat down on the couch, and I stared at him for a long moment trying to think of what I was going to say before I threw all my thoughts and ideas at him.
“So. How much do you love me?” I asked.
“Too much why?”
“I want to know what happened.”
“Really? I don’t think we should worry about that right now, your safe that’s what matters.
“Please.” As I gave him my best puppy eyes.
“Fine, well do you remember we went to prom together and I picked you up around 4 for dinner?”
It was like a tsunami wave crashing and covering my body, my thoughts flooded in and were running wild. I remembered Ethan picking me up. He was wearing a green tie to match my dress. I remember going to the school and everything else was blank.
“Then what?” I questioned.
“Well the doctors said someone did give you that drug but I don’t remember when, but when we were leaving you felt really sick and just wanted to go home. When we were walking to my car someone jumped us, lucky for you he hit you first so I caught a little of what he looks like. Older man, around your mom’s age, brown hair, and he also had a cobra snake on his right bicep but that’s all I saw”
“You call that lucky? Thanks. At least you got a little information thanks Hun”
I went to go grab some homework since I’ve been out of school for a while now, but when I went into my room it seemed off. All of my belongings were not in the right spot; I ignored it for now because it could have been all in my head anyway and went to get my books. When I picked them up I noticed an envelope in it, I quickly looked around and grabbed it and walked out to read it with Ethan.
“What’s that?” He asked.
“I don’t know.”
I opened it slowly and took the piece of paper out. I read it to myself first and the startled and scared expression on my face made Ethan take the letter and read it out loud:

essay #2
Here listed will be a conversation on distracted driving there are two main points: Distracted driving and why it’s dangerous, and the other point why some technology can be helpful while driving. Distracted driving is not only harmful for the person driving the car but also to other people around the car. Because the few seconds you look at your phone or drop something and try to pick it up you could potentially cause a major accident and hurt people around your friends or family in your car. Different places have views on cell phone use, such as no phone at all including Bluetooth, but some other places allow Bluetooth and hands free devices.
Any distractive driving is dangerous! That includes texting, answering phone calls, grooming such as brushing teeth and brushing hair, Reading, including maps, using a navigation system, watching a video, adjusting a radio, CD player, or MP3 player, even your emotions! Looking at your phone takes half of your focus to your hands eyes and hearing. Texting requires one hand and eye focus, which leaves you with little concentration for the road. The few seconds you look at your phone you’re putting your life and if there is people in the car at risk for an accident. When you drink and drive you are 4 times more likely to get into and accident but it’s very different when your texting and driving because that number jumps to a 8 times more likely to crash.
When a survey was taken 50% of teenagers admit to texting and driving. 28% of automotive crashes are because of texting and driving. Over 410,000 people have gotten injured because of distracted driving and that number keeps rising every day. The average text message that includes more than 5 words takes and average of 5 seconds to read and another 5 seconds plus to reply so in that amount of time which is a long period you are not focused on the road and could get into a car accident. In 2011 about ten percent of FATAL car crashes had to do with cellular devices. And 17 percent were injured. 495 people in 2011 were killed because the other party was using a cell phone. Driving while using a cell phone reduces brain activity associated with driving by 37 per cent. The ages 15-20 make 20 percent out of 27 that text and drive. 660,000 drives during the day are on their cell phones and driving. This number can increase and decrease every day and the only way to help get these numbers down and to keep our roads safe is to silent our phones and put them out of sight so we are not tempted to look at them.
Drivers accessing social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Email increased from 21% to 43% so not only are people calling and texting they are accessing social media sites which increases the time you have to look at your hand held device. When asking multiple people of all age groups why they check media sites or text messages when knowing the risk of crashing 48% of the group said because they have gotten good at it/ and or know what buttons to push memorizing the buttons. In this case you might than think its safer but it still requires concentration and thinking that still takes away from your driving.
More and more people are choosing to ignore the laws of the road. Fourteen states prohibits all hand held cell phone use while forty-four states have banned texting and driving. There has been no state bands on complete no use of cell phones but the efforts are getting better to make that happen. The laws are there to try to get these numbers lower and make the streets safer it’s not going to change overnight which is why we need to work harder than ever to help and spread the word.
National Highway Traffic Safety Admissions (NHTSA) continues to research this topic, collect data, promote legislation, and encourage public awareness and education. The NHTSA is trying out a high visibility enforcement project in New York and Connecticut. Raising awareness. This project is going great they said that the troops out there have had a strong commitment and an effective traffic enforcement program.
Tips for preventing distractive driving.
8.      Make adjustments to the car before.
9.      Store any loose gear away or tie down.
10.   FULLY FOCUS ON DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!
The advantages and disadvantages of distracted driving. Hands free option on the phone or car makes it easier to accept phone calls or send texts, but the voice recognition makes for a very aggravating and difficult time to actually use. And could cause cognitive distraction. Which means your eyes are on the road but your mind isn’t.  Just because you’re not using your hands doesn't mean your full concentration is on the road. Bluetooth is safer in a sense that at least your eyes are on the road but it could still lead to accidents. Same with navigation systems they are very helpful with finding your destination but at the same time you could miss a turn and have to look at the system or even read the directions any source of cell phone use or Bluetooth is still dangerous. LaHood says that hands free isn't the problem since it’s up to your ear while driving. She also says that most people can’t afford Bluetooth in their car so the cell phone is easier to use. In that case more cars being made today should include a Bluetooth option in the car to at least minimize the deaths and accidents in America today. It would be a little more expensive but its way better than losing a life in the long run.
In conclusion any distractions in the car should be taken care of before getting into the car, and as for cell phone use it’s important to know that you are putting yourself and other people at risk when you are texting, calling or even surfing the web. And for Bluetooth yes it can be helpful and could help you put a little more focus on the road but it could be just as dangerous.

Ok so in my other english class..... (more of a learn to read better class) we are writing poetry. So for this journal i am posting another poem.

Autumn
I glanced at the tall bare tree shedding its lasts leaves.
Dancing through the wind,
The leaves fell,
Together in pairs, in sync.
I walked over the dancing pair,
The crunch beneath my feet,
And the crisp cold wind in my hair.

I Am
I am perseverance and fearless,
I wonder what other people think of me,
I hear tears dropping,
I see the light in dark places,
I want the best for my future,
I am loving and caring.
I pretend to save the world
I feel the soft spirits touch
I touch the hearts of many
I worry for the ones I love
I cry for the heartbreaks of others
I am perseverance and fearless
I say find happiness in misery
I dream for world peace
I try to be a better person
I hope for the success in everyone
I am loving and caring.

Journal

So this journal is going to be about the native american beliefs. First one i want to talk to about is the great spirit deity that is intertwined with the fabric of the Universe itself on the large scale and yet is personally engaged with the web of living things and the world on an earthly scale. Also refereed to the great spirit.
The great medicine dance is a ritual that last four days or longer and it is held in the height of the summer,The dance represents the making of this universe and was conceived and taught to the people by the Creator, Maheo, and his helper, Great Roaring Thunder. It portays the making of the sun, moon, and stars; of rain, wind, and snow; of Grandmother Earth and the blue sky above her; of the mountains and rivers; of all living things, big and small. The dance is performed especially in times of starvation, distress, and widespread death. This, our most sacred ceremony, was brought to us by the Sutai medicine man Horns Standing Up, under the guidance of the Creator himself.

Ok so this journal is going to be about an auto immune disease called alopecia, I didn't know what this was until about two months ago when im little 9 year old sister was diagnosed with it. First off this is very very rare for a kid so young to have. Alopecia areata is a type of hair loss that occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles , which is where hair growth begins. The damage to the follicle is usually not permanent. Experts do not know why the immune system attacks the follicles. Alopecia areata is most common in people younger than 20, but children and adults of any age may be affected. Women and men are affected equally. My little sister passion is dance so when she heard this news it upset her so much, she didn't take this news well because her hair is a huge part of her and dance. The amount of stress that she has had because of this is making it worse. So as a family we have tried to be better and do more family things for her. As for treatment there are none that have succesfully worked so my sister goes down to a specialst to get four shots in her skull to stimulate hair growth, also changing to a gluten free diet said it might help her to but its guaranteed that she will lose all of her hair which also makes her upset, shes only 9 so i imangine it must be hard for her it makes me sad to talk to her about it I hope when she gets a little older she might be a little more understanding. Also a huge thing was bullying in school about it, she told some of her friends and one of them bullied her really bad which belittled her self worth I hope people are understanding about this next school year for her.

Journal

Ok so I'm running out of things to write about in my journals because I'm such a boring person and nothing exciting goes on in my life what so ever. All I do is homework, work, and more homework. So In one of my classes out of Weber we had to take one of our old poems to class and revise it kinda thing and if you didn't have one you had to either write one or find one. So since I have nothing else to write, I'll write a poem for this Journal.
Cross
A black cross stuck out of the ground,
its hard iron casting a shadow across its grave,
in an abandoned church's backyard it stood alone.

Gray clouds gathered, ready to pay their last respects,
and shed their tears on lives long gone.

Perching in a broken window an angel,
its eyes and wings as black as coal,
gazed at the lonely landmark.

It flew down,
standing next to the cross gazing at it longingly.

A crack of light pushed its way through the blanket of sorrowing clouds,
and fell on a necklace hanging from the cross.

A glittering silver locket,
A picture inside of a beautiful pair.

The angel saw it,
and knew they both would be together once again.

So this is my first semester of college, I graduated high school early so I thought that I should start college early, which was a good idea but I had no help what so ever and on top of that I didn't have any friends or anyone older than me that could help so I thought taking my general classes first was the best thing to do..... I was so wrong! The amount of homework and extra time I have to go in is killing me. I've been drowning in the amount of homework that I have than on top of that all these stupid family issues that I have to worry about. So all this homework and stress I had to quit my favorite job because I cant continue another semester this way. I might fail all of my classes, This is even harder for me because I've been in resource since I've started school and this is all new to me and I dont have help from anyone and I dont know what to do at all! Ughhh now back to homework....Yay... not.
Journal

So today I went to the curiosity museum with my mom, sister, and two cousins. We had to drive down to Thanksgiving point at 9:00 to get there when it opened at 10:00. I went there to help with the kids cause I knew that my mom would need help with the three kids, well when I went there I think timed turned back because I felt like a ten year old again! I had a blast doing different things with my family. It was so much fun for all ages that my mom decided to join in to! We were there for a good four hours and than we went to Panda Express for lunch. On the way home my moms car completely died and my mom pushed it off the nearest ramp into a parking lot and we called my aunt to pick up us up while my mom called my dad to come with her to take her car down to Murray for the car. So besides the car accident It was a great day that my family needed and I got to act like a little kid again.

Journal

Ok so somthing i just want to write about because i dont have anything else really to type for this journal, anyway, So im sitting at my laptop just going through facebook and see a friend lets call him sheldon, well sheldon was reaching out to help from his friends and followers and said he likes a certain group and most of his friends started to bully him which made him to start posting that he wants to take his life. I dont care what kind of bullying it is you shouldnt bring that much sadness on to another person. This happens so much today because some people like certain tv shows or believe in same sex marrige or even releigon either way people are getting bullied over the stupidest things and theres not enought people to stand up and speak out that this keeps going and its getting a lot worse to where people start to take their own lives because they think thats the only way out. I try my hardest to reach out to the people that truly need help or just someone to care but im only one person and I wish there was more of me out there.
Journal

So im almost done with this semester of classes and im way excited to be done and start new classes. On the other hand ive been going to a lot of different churches and learning different religions and it has peaked my interest i love learning about what other people believe in. Right now ive been meeting up with a group of "travelers" or most people call them gypsy's its very remarkable the things they do and believe in its more spiritual and natural healing its very fascinating to listen to ive been meeting them and talking to this group for awhile now and the natural way of doing things tends to help me more than a lot of other things ive found. If any one has something for me to look into id love to know! Different traditions religions etc gives me research to sink my teeth into and to keep me occupied and learning more and more about others.

If I could advocate for anything it would be about puppy mills, People don't realize what puppy mills even are. When someone wants to go buy a purebred from a pet stores or online they don't understand where the dogs come from. Puppy mills are very very VERY low quality to no shelter at all so that they are exposed to the harsh elements outside dogs half the time don't have food or water and most of them die off before reaching their senior years. They have no human interaction until they need to be bred. most of the time cages are stacked on top of each other so there waste goes under to all the other dog. How I would get the message out there to try to change this is very simple but it would take a lot of other people, Just getting the message out there in anyway would help. Such as media groups, letters, magazine articles, and blogging. The more people that know the better. Those dogs don't have a voice so we need to be it. They dont deserve all of the abuse when they are in the mills. Adopting from shelters and shelter promotions at pet stores is one way we can stop puppy mills and at the same time were saving a dogs life! Another great option to stop puppy mills is to foster them, to take one or even more into your home for awhile and find them a forever home!!! ADOPT DON'T SHOP!

Kozara, Sean. "Texting and Driving.": November, 7, 2010. 1-8. 1 July 2014
In this article Sean Kozara an engish professor talks about the important reasons why distracting driving is so dangerous. Any distractive driving such as: Texting, talking, eating, loud music and even when your emotions dictate your mood. It takes away half of your focus to your hands eyes and hearing. Texting requires one hand and eye focus, which leaves you with little concentration for the road. Kozara compares distracted driving with Russian roulette, in a sense that yes you can look at a text or answer a phone call but at that moment you’re at high risk for a car accident! When a survey was taken 50% of teenagers admit to texting and driving. 28% of automotive crashes are because of texting and driving.  You are 4 times at risk to get in an accident under the influence than the 8 times more likely when you text and drive. And these numbers are growing every day, in order to stop this or decrease this multiple parties need to be informed like the police, teenagers, adults, seniors, automotive shops, and anything else to do with automobiles. It’s hard to resist a phone call or text, but it might just save your life if you ignore it.
"U.S. Officials Split on "Hands Free" Ban for Drivers," Dec. 21, 2011. 1 July 2014.
            <www.reuters.com>
Just because you’re not using your hands doesn’t mean your full concentration is on the road. It still takes away half or your focus, when you take away half of your focus the chances of you getting into an accident increase.

Keith Laing, "LaHood Steers Clear of Hands-free Cell Phone Use While Driving Debate," www.thehill.com, Dec. 21, 2011. 1 July 2014
This news article explains that maybe distractive driving doesn’t include hands free. LaHood says that hands free isn’t the problem since it’s up to your ear while driving. She also says that most people can’t afford Bluetooth in their car so the cell phone is easier to use. Distractive driving has killed over 3,000 people and that number is always rising. 35 states have banned texting and driving and 9 have banned any cell phone use. National traffic safety admissions survey in 2011 ages 21-24 use their cell phone while in the car whether its texting driving or on a social media site.

“Statistics on Texting & Cell Phone Use While Driving.” Edgar Snyder & Associates. 2010-2011. 1 July
2014. <http://www.edgarsnyder.com/car-accident/cell-phone/cell-phone-statistics.html>
This article is all about distracting driving and all of its facts and statistics. Distractive driving includes: Texting, Using a cell phone or smartphone, Eating and drinking, Talking to passengers, Grooming such as brushing teeth and brushing hair, Reading, including maps, Using a navigation system, Watching a video, Adjusting a radio, CD player, or MP3 player or music on your cell phone. Over 410,000 people have gotten injured because of distractive driving. When you look at a text message it takes an average 5 seconds, that’s five seconds you’re put at risk for a crash. Not only a crash for you and the ones in your car but maybe another party. So before you pick up your phone or reply to a text think about is it worth putting yourself and others at risk. Turn your phone off or on silent and put it somewhere you won’t be tempted to look at it. This will take time but its time well worth it if its saving lives.

"Distractive driving 2011.". N.p., 1 April, 2013. 1-6.July 1 2014 <http://www-
nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/Pubs/811737.pdf>.
The U.S department of Transportation talks about distractive driving and how it’s killed and injured many. In 2011 about ten percent of FATAL car crashes had to do with cellular devices. And 17 percent were injured. 495 people in 2011 were killed because the other party was using a cell phone. The ages 15-20 make 20 percent out of 27 that text and drive.

“WHAT IS DISTRACTED DRIVING?” Distraction driving.gov. December 1 2011. 1 July 2014.
            <http://www.distraction.gov/content/get-the-facts/facts-and-statistics.html>
General cell phone statistics and driving go hand and hand because the more you use your cell phone the more likely you are to check it if you’re on the road. 660,000 drives during the day are on their cell phones and driving. Accidents that have to do with cellular devices are completely avoidable. But more and more people are choosing to ignore the laws of the road which are putting themselves at risk, people in the same car and others around them. If you’re talking on the phone or sending a text your reaction time is as of a 75 year olds. When you take the five seconds to look down at your phone the chance of you getting into a crash goes up to 400 percent. 94 percent of people agree with the no texting and driving, and 74 percent agree with no hands free talking. Under the age of 18 46 percent admit to texting and driving. About half of the drivers admit to answering phone calls. The number of people texting is rising. More people need to be aware of the effect they can have on other drivers around them.

short essay practice

This article is about the ocean and how humans are treating it and what would happen if life ceased in them. Over time the ocean is getting worse, oil spills, plastic, and poisonous effluents are destroying our ocean. All living things in the ocean has an effect on humans and our future. If all life died in the oceans the amount of dead bodies would create a smell so bad everyone living by or near the ocean would have to move, the co2 would make the ocean temperatures get higher. They would get so hot that it could melt the icecaps, when the icecaps melt the water level will rise about 100 feet and flood most of the world. There would be little to no water and we would have no free water and begin to starve and die of dehydration.

Alaina's my name and college English is my game! :)

6/25/2014

~ Ten words that define me: Funny, caring, friendship, loyal, talker, active, respectful, understanding, trustworthy, loving.
When you get to know me I keep to myself but when i open up I love to make friends and make them smile and i love in return there trust. Respecting others is one of the main things I stand for and most important bullying! I'm a very active kind caring person who wants everyone to be happy!

~Ten words that describe my (E)dentity: Sarcastic, funny, truthful, anti-bullying, gaming, netflix, opinions, recommendations, fast, me.
My online persona is very much like my identity, online tho i do like to share my opinions and feelings more about recent and popular topics. I also love to post funny sarcastic pictures, motto s, etc. I also love to spend time watching movies and playing online games. If someone messages me or tags me in anything I'm usually fast to respond. Last but not least I'm just me!

My (E)dentity is a very close reflection of me.
With these two different identities there's not a significant overlap I like to reflect me into my (E)dentity in both I like to be funny, truthful, and stand up to what I think is right. But online I do like to speak my mind a little more with my own opinions.
