essay #2
Here listed will be a conversation on distracted driving there are two main points: Distracted driving and why it’s dangerous, and the other point why some technology can be helpful while driving. Distracted driving is not only harmful for the person driving the car but also to other people around the car. Because the few seconds you look at your phone or drop something and try to pick it up you could potentially cause a major accident and hurt people around your friends or family in your car. Different places have views on cell phone use, such as no phone at all including Bluetooth, but some other places allow Bluetooth and hands free devices.
Any distractive driving is dangerous! That includes texting, answering phone calls, grooming such as brushing teeth and brushing hair, Reading, including maps, using a navigation system, watching a video, adjusting a radio, CD player, or MP3 player, even your emotions! Looking at your phone takes half of your focus to your hands eyes and hearing. Texting requires one hand and eye focus, which leaves you with little concentration for the road. The few seconds you look at your phone you’re putting your life and if there is people in the car at risk for an accident. When you drink and drive you are 4 times more likely to get into and accident but it’s very different when your texting and driving because that number jumps to a 8 times more likely to crash.
When a survey was taken 50% of teenagers admit to texting and driving. 28% of automotive crashes are because of texting and driving. Over 410,000 people have gotten injured because of distracted driving and that number keeps rising every day. The average text message that includes more than 5 words takes and average of 5 seconds to read and another 5 seconds plus to reply so in that amount of time which is a long period you are not focused on the road and could get into a car accident. In 2011 about ten percent of FATAL car crashes had to do with cellular devices. And 17 percent were injured. 495 people in 2011 were killed because the other party was using a cell phone. Driving while using a cell phone reduces brain activity associated with driving by 37 per cent. The ages 15-20 make 20 percent out of 27 that text and drive. 660,000 drives during the day are on their cell phones and driving. This number can increase and decrease every day and the only way to help get these numbers down and to keep our roads safe is to silent our phones and put them out of sight so we are not tempted to look at them.
Drivers accessing social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Email increased from 21% to 43% so not only are people calling and texting they are accessing social media sites which increases the time you have to look at your hand held device. When asking multiple people of all age groups why they check media sites or text messages when knowing the risk of crashing 48% of the group said because they have gotten good at it/ and or know what buttons to push memorizing the buttons. In this case you might than think its safer but it still requires concentration and thinking that still takes away from your driving.
More and more people are choosing to ignore the laws of the road. Fourteen states prohibits all hand held cell phone use while forty-four states have banned texting and driving. There has been no state bands on complete no use of cell phones but the efforts are getting better to make that happen. The laws are there to try to get these numbers lower and make the streets safer it’s not going to change overnight which is why we need to work harder than ever to help and spread the word.
National Highway Traffic Safety Admissions (NHTSA) continues to research this topic, collect data, promote legislation, and encourage public awareness and education. The NHTSA is trying out a high visibility enforcement project in New York and Connecticut. Raising awareness. This project is going great they said that the troops out there have had a strong commitment and an effective traffic enforcement program.
Tips for preventing distractive driving.
1.      Devote your full attention to driving.
2.      If another activity requires your attention pull over.
3.      If you have passengers don’t be afraid to ask their help.
4.      Put all electronic distractions away.
5.      Make sure children and pets are secured.
6.      Eat before getting into the car.
7.      Finish all grooming at home, or parked/pulled over.
8.      Make adjustments to the car before.
9.      Store any loose gear away or tie down.
10.   FULLY FOCUS ON DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!
The advantages and disadvantages of distracted driving. Hands free option on the phone or car makes it easier to accept phone calls or send texts, but the voice recognition makes for a very aggravating and difficult time to actually use. And could cause cognitive distraction. Which means your eyes are on the road but your mind isn’t.  Just because you’re not using your hands doesn't mean your full concentration is on the road. Bluetooth is safer in a sense that at least your eyes are on the road but it could still lead to accidents. Same with navigation systems they are very helpful with finding your destination but at the same time you could miss a turn and have to look at the system or even read the directions any source of cell phone use or Bluetooth is still dangerous. LaHood says that hands free isn't the problem since it’s up to your ear while driving. She also says that most people can’t afford Bluetooth in their car so the cell phone is easier to use. In that case more cars being made today should include a Bluetooth option in the car to at least minimize the deaths and accidents in America today. It would be a little more expensive but its way better than losing a life in the long run.
In conclusion any distractions in the car should be taken care of before getting into the car, and as for cell phone use it’s important to know that you are putting yourself and other people at risk when you are texting, calling or even surfing the web. And for Bluetooth yes it can be helpful and could help you put a little more focus on the road but it could be just as dangerous.

journal
Ok so in my other english class..... (more of a learn to read better class) we are writing poetry. So for this journal i am posting another poem.

Autumn
I glanced at the tall bare tree shedding its lasts leaves.
Dancing through the wind,
The leaves fell,
Together in pairs, in sync.
I walked over the dancing pair,
The crunch beneath my feet,
And the crisp cold wind in my hair.

I Am
I am perseverance and fearless,
I wonder what other people think of me,
I hear tears dropping,
I see the light in dark places,
I want the best for my future,
I am loving and caring.
I pretend to save the world
I feel the soft spirits touch
I touch the hearts of many
I worry for the ones I love
I cry for the heartbreaks of others
I am perseverance and fearless
I say find happiness in misery
I dream for world peace
I try to be a better person
I hope for the success in everyone
I am loving and caring.

Journal

So this journal is going to be about the native american beliefs. First one i want to talk to about is the great spirit deity that is intertwined with the fabric of the Universe itself on the large scale and yet is personally engaged with the web of living things and the world on an earthly scale. Also refereed to the great spirit.
The great medicine dance is a ritual that last four days or longer and it is held in the height of the summer,The dance represents the making of this universe and was conceived and taught to the people by the Creator, Maheo, and his helper, Great Roaring Thunder. It portays the making of the sun, moon, and stars; of rain, wind, and snow; of Grandmother Earth and the blue sky above her; of the mountains and rivers; of all living things, big and small. The dance is performed especially in times of starvation, distress, and widespread death. This, our most sacred ceremony, was brought to us by the Sutai medicine man Horns Standing Up, under the guidance of the Creator himself.

Ok so this journal is going to be about an auto immune disease called alopecia, I didn't know what this was until about two months ago when im little 9 year old sister was diagnosed with it. First off this is very very rare for a kid so young to have. Alopecia areata is a type of hair loss that occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles , which is where hair growth begins. The damage to the follicle is usually not permanent. Experts do not know why the immune system attacks the follicles. Alopecia areata is most common in people younger than 20, but children and adults of any age may be affected. Women and men are affected equally. My little sister passion is dance so when she heard this news it upset her so much, she didn't take this news well because her hair is a huge part of her and dance. The amount of stress that she has had because of this is making it worse. So as a family we have tried to be better and do more family things for her. As for treatment there are none that have succesfully worked so my sister goes down to a specialst to get four shots in her skull to stimulate hair growth, also changing to a gluten free diet said it might help her to but its guaranteed that she will lose all of her hair which also makes her upset, shes only 9 so i imangine it must be hard for her it makes me sad to talk to her about it I hope when she gets a little older she might be a little more understanding. Also a huge thing was bullying in school about it, she told some of her friends and one of them bullied her really bad which belittled her self worth I hope people are understanding about this next school year for her.

Journal

Ok so I'm running out of things to write about in my journals because I'm such a boring person and nothing exciting goes on in my life what so ever. All I do is homework, work, and more homework. So In one of my classes out of Weber we had to take one of our old poems to class and revise it kinda thing and if you didn't have one you had to either write one or find one. So since I have nothing else to write, I'll write a poem for this Journal.
Cross
A black cross stuck out of the ground,
its hard iron casting a shadow across its grave,
in an abandoned church's backyard it stood alone.

Gray clouds gathered, ready to pay their last respects,
and shed their tears on lives long gone.

Perching in a broken window an angel,
its eyes and wings as black as coal,
gazed at the lonely landmark.

It flew down,
standing next to the cross gazing at it longingly.

A crack of light pushed its way through the blanket of sorrowing clouds,
and fell on a necklace hanging from the cross.

A glittering silver locket,
A picture inside of a beautiful pair.

The angel saw it,
and knew they both would be together once again.

So this is my first semester of college, I graduated high school early so I thought that I should start college early, which was a good idea but I had no help what so ever and on top of that I didn't have any friends or anyone older than me that could help so I thought taking my general classes first was the best thing to do..... I was so wrong! The amount of homework and extra time I have to go in is killing me. I've been drowning in the amount of homework that I have than on top of that all these stupid family issues that I have to worry about. So all this homework and stress I had to quit my favorite job because I cant continue another semester this way. I might fail all of my classes, This is even harder for me because I've been in resource since I've started school and this is all new to me and I dont have help from anyone and I dont know what to do at all! Ughhh now back to homework....Yay... not.
Journal

So today I went to the curiosity museum with my mom, sister, and two cousins. We had to drive down to Thanksgiving point at 9:00 to get there when it opened at 10:00. I went there to help with the kids cause I knew that my mom would need help with the three kids, well when I went there I think timed turned back because I felt like a ten year old again! I had a blast doing different things with my family. It was so much fun for all ages that my mom decided to join in to! We were there for a good four hours and than we went to Panda Express for lunch. On the way home my moms car completely died and my mom pushed it off the nearest ramp into a parking lot and we called my aunt to pick up us up while my mom called my dad to come with her to take her car down to Murray for the car. So besides the car accident It was a great day that my family needed and I got to act like a little kid again.
